Had a great time at SXSW 2012

IGTM Indie Game The Movie The super excellent and brilliant James and Lisanne, Dir’s of IGTM. After almost a year of corresponding with them over email about the film finally got to see it at the Alamo Drafthouse and then went for beers with them after the Q+A – blown away by the film and their niceness/smartness and just a stupendously great day all-round. Then, as if the day couldn’t get better, James and I met Shaun Inman, this awesomely talented designer who’s done some cool game related projects and then all this transformered into a great dinner. Goooooood times.

had some hilarious run-ins with living legend composer / supernatural rock deity Jim Guthrie (scored IGTM). Here, in classic nice-guy Jim form he’s graciously fulfilling an autograph request from a fan. When I grow up I want to be Jim Guthrie.

super interesting panel that was about something something indie games something, James and Lisanne from IGTM, the shockingly erudite and entertaining Adam Saltsman of Canabalt fame, Phil Fish of Canceling Fez II fame, and the awesome Wiley Wiggins who was also a really nice and intimidatingly interesting guy to chat with

Had a meeting with TIFF International Film Programmer Jane Schoettle while in Austin, – and fittingly while with über fashionable Jane – we saw this hilarious fancy cowboy boot display in the swank hotel. FWIW, a 10′ tall and ankle-length fur-coat wearing Billy Corgan of the Smashing Pumpkins walked in and sat down next to us w/his entourage. 14yr old me would have been super stoked, 31 yr old me was just like “holy shiiiiiit billy corgan is ridicu-tall-ous”.

succumbing to fanboyness, I have to admit that the Joss Whedon “in conversation” BLEW MY MIND, came away suuuuper inspired for reals.

hung out with this turbo fresh dude in the arcade for no other reason than he was pretty awesome and friendly. He even linkedIn me later on which felt weird coming from a guy who had a mohawk as awesome as this

yay independent game design! you can just make out Mark Essen’s NIDHOGG, I believe originally commissioned by No Quarter
